TRLOBITE SEA BED
Trilobite Olenellus - Lower Cambrian, based on fossil remains from Canada
Trilobite are among the most numerous fossils there are and can be found all over the world. To date over 15,000 different species of trilobite have been identified, and new ones are discovered every year. When an arthropod grows it has to shed its skin, and most first reabsorb any minerals held within their skin back into their body, but Trilobites do not, and shed their hard outer armor. Considering that this may occur on many occasions during a lifetime, it may explain why there appears such an abundance of Trilobite fossils.
